SUMMARY Grand Rapids Community College is approved by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) and Michigan Sheriffs Coordinator and Training Council (MSCTC) as a Pre-service Basic Training Program (PBTP). These programs prepare entry-level individuals with the cognitive and physical skills needed to sit for the Michigan Licensing exam.
The Police and Corrections Academy Director is administratively responsible for both academies. The Director shall work in conjunction and report to the Criminal Justice Department Head. Duties and responsibilities may include planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, monitoring, and reporting approved program activity to Grand Rapids Community College and MCOLES/MSCTC.
