The UMBC Police Department is comprised of experienced diverse police professionals who provide full-service law enforcement responsibilities, police communication professionals who provide a first point of contact for police services, and a highly trained civilian staff who provide support for the Police Department mission. The Police Department is the cornerstone of a comprehensive institutional strategy to maintain a safe environment for our campus population of over 13,000 students, 3,000 faculty and staff, plus visitors.
To meet the needs of our growing community, we have positions available for commissioned Police Officers.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County is recruiting for open Police Officer II positions. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Enforce local, state, and federal laws
Patrol academic and residential areas on foot, bicycle, and Segway
Provide safety escorts
Prepare reports and conduct investigations
Testify in court
Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (some college preferred)
Successful completion of a MPTC Minimum Standard Entrance Level Police Course
Current police commission as a Maryland police officer (a certified officer in the U.S., oustide of Maryland, may be considered but will have to complete a Comparative Compliance Course)
Valid Class C driver's license
The ability to work overtime and shift work is required

Pay Range 12 (starting at $52,000) based on the University System of Maryland Pay Program. Salary increases upon completion of probation and UPO III eligibility.
