The basics of this position:
Performs duties necessary to verbally communicate and monitor campus radio assignments; performs written communications involving but not limited to CAD entries for report and activity retention; processes criminal histories, traffic violations and vehicle registrations
What you'll do:
Monitors and communicates radio traffic and answers telephone calls: dispatches personnel and equipment as needed; alerts emergency agencies regarding fires, accident victims, etc.
Processes violations and registrations: processes traffic violations: maintains an updated list of violations on the in-house computer; issues, files, and updates all vehicle registrations.
Operates the campus Emergency Alert Systems during testing, drills and actual emergencies.
Monitors lost and found storage area.
Monitors camera system as related to calls for service.
Uses personal computer, communications base radio & microphone and accesses video files.
Maintains dispatch documents and records.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Excellent public relations skills.
Ability to type and input data and information.
MULES/NCIC certification obtained within six months of employment and maintained throughout employment.
REJIS certification obtained if needed.
18 years of age with no prior felony/misdemeanor arrest or convictions. No undesirable criminal history.
U.S. citizen and able to work legally in this country.
Ability to switch shifts, to include holidays and weekends.
Multi-tasking abilities, critical thinking skills, ability to work under pressure.
Geographic understanding of the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
Speak, read and write English.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to learn FCC rules/regulations applicable to radio transmissions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior law enforcement experience.
Prior dispatch experience.
Current Mules certification.
Prior supervisory experience.
Has a good working knowledge of programs such as; MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other related office programs.
