								<description>Worcester, Massachusetts,  OFFICIAL TITLE:  Campus Police Officer I    SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Chain of Command: Shift supervisor, Captain, and Chief of Police    SUPERVISION EXERCISED:  None      General Statement of Duties:  The Campus Police Officer I supports and protects the campus community while providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff. Primary duties include patrolling the campus via foot or cruiser, securing and checking buildings, grounds and adjacent areas and enforcing state laws as well as departmental rules and regulations of the institution. Works in collaboration with the local community and the Worcester State University Police Department.      Responsibilities:       (E) = Essential          Requirements:          Required Qualifications:       Preferred Qualifications:       Working Conditions:     Campus Police Officers work under exposure to injury resulting from dangerous weapons, physical and verbal abuse and adverse weather conditions; carry firearms; work with people under physical and/or emotional stress; work alone in isolated or high-crime areas; walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; lift and carry heavy objects or people; may travel for job related purposes; and may be required to furnish private transportation for job-related travel for which mileage is reimbursed.        Additional Information:        All officers are required to attend a full-time academy. Candidates who successfully complete the probationary period for continued employment may be considered for the Massachusetts Special State Police Recruit academy. Failure to meet the entrance requirements or to successfully complete the course of training shall result in dismissal.   Candidates must understand that there is a contractual commitment following academy training, once completed - per Appendix O of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a grade 16, non-exempt, full-time (40 hours), benefited AFSCME position.   Bi-weekly salary is $1,799.63 (annual salary is $46,790.38) plus shift differential.   Shifts Available: 10:00pm - 6:00am with Tuesday and Wednesday OFF; 10:00pm - 6:00am with Wednesday and Thursday OFF.
