The Department of Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacy Services University Health in San Antonio, Texas, in collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy and the University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy, is proud to offer an ASHP-Accredited Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Solid Organ Transplant Pharmacy Residency position for July 1 - June 30 of the upcoming residency year.

This residency is designed to provide a challenging training environment for individuals interested in developing clinical competency in the area of solid organ transplantation, with emphases on immunosuppression, transplant-related infectious diseases, and post-transplant complications.

As full-time employees of University Health, residents receive a competitive annual stipend of $62,000 plus excellent employee benefits. Residents are also appointed as Clinical Instructors with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy and University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy.

The University Health PGY2 Solid Organ Transplant Pharmacy Residency Program provides a challenging, well-rounded training environment in a variety of solid organ transplant types, including but not limited to kidney, pancreas, liver, and lung transplants.

Residents will have opportunities to care for pediatric and adult patients, transplant donors and recipients, and both inpatients and outpatients, throughout all phases of transplant care including pre-, peri-, and post-transplant. In addition, residents will demonstrate leadership and practice management skills and complete a transplant research project.

Residents who successfully complete this accredited PGY2 Solid Organ Transplant Pharmacy Residency should possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist and/or faculty positions related to solid organ transplantation.

REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be considered for this residency, the applicant must:

1. Possess a strong interest in solid organ transplant clinical pharmacy practice
2. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
3. Complete an ACPE-accredited PharmD Degree program
4. Be enrolled in or complete an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
5. Participate in the ASHP Resident Matching Program

Once accepted into the residency program, candidates should submit a completed Job Application by May 1 and obtain a Registered Pharmacist License in the state of Texas by August 1.
