JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Chief of Campus Police or designee at UTHSC, the Security Systems Officer assists with the installation, maintenance, administration, daily operation, and configuration and documentation of security and information systems serving the Campus Police Department at UTHSC. This includes, but is not limited to, daily security issues, manage security related projects, support in programming University ID clearances, auditing the access and work-flows for the SiPass integrated access control system, manage Siveillance integrated video management software, video wall layouts and train SiPass and Siveillance integrated users. This position participates and assists setup routine disaster response training for involved groups. The Security and Information Systems Officer serves as the liaison with contract security, ITS, building managers, faculty and staff regarding security access questions, clearances and other related duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides support for installation, testing, maintenance, administration, documentation, and daily operation of vendor supported or in-house developed applications.
- Assists with projects related to the installation, programming and maintenance of security systems including electronic access control, video cameras and Emergency Operation Centers. Designs video camera layouts, maps, alarms and building automation.
- Consults with users to ensure effectively use of applications within the organization. Troubleshoots and resolves both technical and user problems.
- Develops and maintains user manuals and training material. Assists with internal training and workshops as needed.
- Maintains Backup Disaster Recovery documentation and objectives.
- Performs security management including daily security issues, managing security related projects, supporting programming University ID clearances, auditing the access and work-flows for the SiPass integrated access control system.
- Manages Siveillance integrated video management software, video wall layouts and train SiPass and Siveillance integrated users.
- Identifies, tracks, and reports suspicious activity to proper personnel.
- Reviews and retrieves Siveillance VMS video footage for evidentiary purposes. Maintains documented evidence for audit support.
- Provides testimony in State or Federal courts when necessary.
- Monitors connectivity and performance of video cameras and video walls. Monitors integrity of integrated access control system.
- Creates and enforces administrative policies for users of SiPass/Siveillance and provides support to building managers and the UTHSC team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
