The UMBC Police Department is comprised of experienced, diverse police professionals who provide full-service law enforcement responsibilities, police communication professionals who provide a first point of contact for police services and a highly-trained civilian staff who provide support for the Police Department mission. The Police Department is the cornerstone of a comprehensive institutional strategy to maintain a safe environment for our campus population of over 14,000 students, 3,000 faculty and staff, plus visitors.

Position Overview:
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County is recruiting for an open University Police Officer II position. Duties include enforcement of local, state and federal laws.

Police officers are provided uniforms in addition to a clothing and equipment allowance. Shift differential is available for evening and midnight shifts. You also have the potential to earn a stipend (on top of your base salary) for being radar or patrol rifle certified.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County is recruiting for an open University Police Officer II position. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Enforce local, state and federal laws
Patrol academic and residential areas on foot, bicycle and Segway
Provide safety escorts
Prepare reports and conduct investigations
Traffic enforcement
Testify in court
Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Successful completion of a MPTC Minimum Standard Entrance Level Police Course (that includes firearms certification).
Current police commission as a Maryland police officer (if commissioned in another state must take compliance course and field training upon hire)
Valid Class C driver's license
The ability to work overtime and shift work is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Some college preferred

Salary:
Pay Range 12 (starting at $57,000) based on the University System of Maryland Pay Program. Salary increases upon completion of probation and UPO III eligibility. Shift differential is available for evening and midnight shifts. You also have the potential to earn a stipend (on top of your base salary) for being radar or patrol rifle certified.
