The University Police Inspector is responsible for managing criminal and background cases; conducting and directing major case investigations; supervising crime scenes; setting investigative priorities and objectives through review of incident reports; conducting background investigations for sworn and civilian applicants; and contributing to campus-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. This role also collaborates and serves as the primary liaison with the Livingston County District Attorney’s office, Geneseo Village Court, community advocacy agencies, and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The University Police Inspector conducts weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits of all investigations and relative follow-up that has been undertaken in all criminal cases reported to the police.
The University Police Inspector implements training and development for department members in complex procedures of law enforcement consistent with the mission and philosophy of the University Police and the Division of Student and Campus Life. Additionally, the University Police Inspector will provide coordination, oversight and assessment of department community outreach initiatives related to building trust and legitimacy for all members of the community.

Bachelor’s degree;
Valid driver’s license;
Demonstrated law enforcement experience as a sworn police officer;
Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations;
Demonstrated leadership experience;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Demonstrated commitment to providing successful community outreach;
Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds;
Current New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)/Municipal Police Training Council (MPTC) police officer certification;
New York State DCJS Instructor Development Course (IDC) or equivalent.
