This position is responsible for the function, oversight and management of all facets of the Prince George's Municipal Police Academy, including the Police Academy classes, other law enforcement certification programs, and security training. The director will ensure compliance with the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC), as well as all other governing, certifying and accrediting bodies.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE
Must have served as a police officer for a minimum of 10 years
Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
Must have supervised personnel a minimum of two years.
Experienced in various law enforcement fields/subjects is preferred

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public, through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions, however on occasion, position requires lifting/moving/transporting cases of ammunition / 10 lbs.
SPECIALREQUIREMENTS
Current certification as an instructor by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions, or the ability to obtain certification within six months.
Certification as an Academy Director by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions, or ability to obtain certification when next offered by the Commissions.
OTHERREQUIREMENTS
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
