Police Officer (Public Safety Police Officer - MR06) Facilities Planning and Management University of Tennessee, Chattanooga
The Police Officer assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Conducting building and parking lot checks.
Patrolling assigned area to detect crime and arrest violators.
Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Apprehending, arresting, and filing charges on suspects when required.
Preparing and presenting testimony in court concerning traffic violations, burglaries, and other offenses.
Providing security for special university events when needed.
Investigating traffic accidents and filing preliminary accident reports.
Performing other related duties as required.

High school graduate or equivalent
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment under stress
Physical ability and aptitude required
Must qualify with firearms and have a valid driver's license
Must possess Tennessee POST Certificate or be able to successfully complete the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen
No conviction, guilty plea, or "no contest" plea to any felony charge or violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, or controlled substances; not have been released or discharged under other than honorable or medical discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces
Must be able to pass a (post-offer) physical and psychological examination; have good moral character as determined by a thorough investigation conducted by the University Police
Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously under stressful conditions.
Current POST certified officers may be eligible for lateral pay, depending on qualifications and experience.
