Table Mountain Rancheria in Friant, California has an opening for a full-time Police Sergeant to work in the Tribal Police Department of Table Mountain Rancheria.

This job is responsible for providing effective leadership, making work assignments, monitoring and reporting work activities, and providing on the job training and assistance to assigned personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Apply appropriate rules and regulations, asses law enforcement or other hazardous situations to determine an appropriate course of action
Conducts or directs the conduct of internal affairs investigations regarding possible officer misconduct
Responds to and attempts to resolve citizen complaints regarding law enforcement activities
Assist in developing department policies and procedures
Assist in the interview process of prospective police officer candidates
Provide training to subordinate officers and oversees training conducted by others
Assist in conducting briefing sessions and staff meetings
Conduct performance evaluations, makes recommendations in areas concerning employee retention and discipline
Provides administrative functions and budgetary support to Police Chief
Write reports to accurately describe events timely, accurately, concisely and legibly
Provides safety and security related services required to ensure the safety of the Tribal Government including supporting the emergency plan efforts
Maintain cooperative and working relationships with the Tribal community, general public, and local and state police agencies
Associate’s Degree from a two college or university in Criminology or Criminal Justice unless otherwise waived by Tribal Council as based on determined experience and accomplishments
Bachelor's Degree, Preferred
California P.O.S.T. Certification or graduated from an accredited police academy
Five (5) years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
The Police Sergeant carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
