Position Summary:
The University of California, Irvine Police Department, provides contemporary law enforcement services including patrol, traffic, investigations, community engagement, crime prevention and suppression, and security services to a daily population of more than 60,000 people. The department employs about 50 sworn officers, 56 professional staff, and 40 students who provide public safety services at both the Irvine campus and the Medical Center, located in the City of Orange, California. Working in partnership with the UCI community, we strive to provide services based on integrity, respect, transparency, fairness, and teamwork.
Applies professional concepts, department / unit and campus / medical center / OP policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues in one or more IT areas of specialization. Analyzes complex issues. Within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action. The UCI Police Business Information Systems Coordinator is responsible for managing body-worn and in-car video camera systems, as well as the coordination and implementation of technology solutions to meet departmental business and operational requirements. Role will interface directly with law enforcement and their business systems. Daily duties include, uploading/downloading, auditing and redaction of video, maintenance of existing systems in both the mobile (vehicle) and fixed (office) environment, training on systems that incumbent manages. Coordination of internal and external requests for video, including responding to discovery requests by the court. The UC Irvine Police Department has an excellent opportunity for a Business Information Systems Coordinator with experience in managing body-worn and in-car video camera systems as well as the coordination and implementation of technology solutions to meet departmental business and operational requirements. The Department is seeking a motivated and driven candidate looking for an opportunity to work hands on with law enforcement and their business systems. Experience with WatchGuard video systems is a plus. Duties include maintenance of existing systems in both the vehicle and office environments, training, uploading/downloading, auditing and redaction of video. Coordination of internal and external requests for video, including responding to discovery requests by the court.

$74,000 - $78,000

Three to five years years of progressively responsible experience in information technology systems with a preference towards law enforcement/public safety based systems
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. Requires effective communication and organization skills. Includes the ability to explain complex concepts to various audiences orally and in writing. Requires ability to effectively train end-users in technology based equipment and software programs. Experience working with law enforcement fixed video, in-car video, body-worn video, automated license plate reader (ALPR) systems. Vehicle based communications and technology systems. Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Experience in incident response and digital forensics., knowledge of various areas of IT. Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including prior experience securing server-based software. Demonstrated skill at administering moderately complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware, software and networks. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions. Requires ability to assess campus or medical center needs for information technology products and design services to meet those needs. Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives. Works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrated attention to detail. Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Requires basic knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Demonstrated effective organization and project management skills. Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks
Preferred:
Experience with WatchGuard video systems is a plus. Familiarity with data mapping or data conversion.
Special Conditions Required:
Must pass a law enforcement background check. Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and participate in the DMV pull-notice program. The Police Department is a 24 hour, 7-day a week operation. This position may require the successful applicant to be flexible in their schedule to work some nights, holiday, or weekends. Subject to call in 24 hours a day in case of major emergency situations or critical equipment/technology system failures. Child Abuse & Neglect Act (CANRA) Mandated Reporter Must comply with UC Vaccination policies
