The Business Manager is responsible for managing the Departmentâ™s Fiscal (budgetary, billing and purchasing), Recruiting/Hiring, Payroll and Communications/Social Media responsibilities. This position will also assist with the Clery during key times. Will assist in the development and implementation of a crime analysis program.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Administers department budgetary and fiscal functions.
Manages the preparation of annual budgets for Police Department and departments utilizing contract security.Â
Coordinates Police requisition process (Purchasing and Accts. Payable)
Coordinates billing for Police Services (Invoicing and Accts. Receivable)
Coordinates Security budgeting and services for various University campus locations.
Conducts periodic audits of various internal fiscal accounts and stock inventory (e.g. crime prevention sales, etc.)
Administers Department Recruiting/Hiring Functions.
Serves as the Department liaison to the University Payroll and Human Resources Recruiting departments.
Coordinates with the Recruitment office for the posting of positions and hiring of new personnel.
Coordinates on-boarding of newly hired employees.
Serves as the Ambassador for newly hired employees.
Administer and maintain department communication, to include development of printed resources, website content and social media sites.
Coordinates, manages, and facilitates the communication and public information needs of the Washington University Police Department. Â Â
Coordinates communication programs related to marketing the department and promoting safety and crime prevention initiatives on behalf of WUPD.Â Â
Development and implementation of social media campaign; use of social media to provide frequent updates to the community.
Assists and coordinates the development of printed materials, presentations, reports, pamphlets, fact sheets, etc. for internal and community programs.
Assists Department Clery Act compliance functions.
Coordinates and assists with Department Clery communication to compile final reporting information from campus partners, along with Protective Services with the Medical Campus. Â Â
Assists in the development and submission of the University's annual Clery reporting through the Department of Education.Â Â
Assists in the research, development and implementation of a formal crime analysis program.
Conducts research into crime analysis to determine the best practices.
Identifies recommended training requirements; coordinate training for identified members of WUPD.
Assist in the development and implementation of crime analysis plan.
Coordinates the dissemination of information to the campus community to support the departmentâ™s crime prevention initiatives.
Maintains department files and organizational database systems, including but not limited to, emergency contact lists, department and staff files.
Provides administrational and organizational support to the Chief of Police.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to be on-call for emergency situations
Experience in Microsoft Office products.

Bachelorâ™s degree with at least three years of experience in financial, human resources, and administrative management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
$45,800.00 - $75,900.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
