The Police Communications Operator (PCO) handles emergency and non-emergency communications and greets the public at the Police Station.
Specific duties include:
Operate two-way radio, telecommunications and University Alarm System
Operate Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system
Receive and record information regarding emergencies, complaints, request for service, assistance and general information
Dispatch officers to emergencies and other requests for service
Monitor campus security cameras
Greet the public entering the Police Station
Obtain and maintain METERS/NCIC CN1 Level of certification
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Two years of clerical or other related experience
Ability to typing accurately required
Must obtain METE
RS/NCIC CN1 certification during first three months of employment
Overtime and shift work is required.
Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system experience
Clerical or other data entry related experience
Background Screening Statement:
A background check will be required.

This position is considered an essential employee, which requires working during inclement weather and is subject to mandatory overtime.
