The City of Sanger, California is seeking a progressive and highly visible leader to serve as the next Chief of Police. A one-hour drive to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, or three hours to the Pacific Coast, Sanger provides residents with a great place to call home and enjoy a rich life. Covering 5.7 square miles with a population of more than 27,000 citizens, Sanger is the third largest city in Fresno County. The Sanger Police Department is made up of 43 professionally oriented staff members who provide a high level of service to the community. The Police Department has a FY 20 approved budget of approximately $6.2 million. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in law enforcement, police science, criminal justice, political science, public administration, or a related field; and a minimum of 10 years of experience in all major areas of municipal police work, including a minimum of 4 years of management and administrative responsibility. A Master’s degree is desirable, as is Command College or FBI National Academy graduation. The annual salary is up to $109,644 in addition to an outstanding benefits package. An additional 5% certification incentive may be awarded by the City Manager and a 3-5% merit increase may be awarded once the next Chief of Police has attained the top step in the salary scale.
