The primary objective of the College Police Department is to develop and direct a comprehensive program of Law Enforcement to provide the highest level of safety, security, and service for the campus community as they pursue their daily work and study activities, consistent with the laws of the Commonwealth.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
This position is responsible for performing a variety of communications and operational tasks in support of public safety, law enforcement, and security operations, linking those in need of assistance to those who render assistance.
Minimum Qualifications :
-Successfull completion of the written telecommunicator assessment - 18 years of age -No criminal record -Must be a United States citizen or have been a lawful resident of the United States for the past 10 consecutive years -Possess a high school diploma or equivalent -Successful completion of a thorough background investigation
-Prior public safety dispatching/call taker experience -VA Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Communications Officer Certification -VCIN/NCIC Level A Operator Certification -APCO Telecommunicator I Certification and/or other APCO certifications
