Virginia State University is seeking a conscientious individual to serve as a dispatcher in the Department of Police and Public Safety. The incumbent will monitor the departmentâs communications system, respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service and assistance by dispatching personnel via radio, telephone, or other methods of communication. The incumbent will obtain information from callers to determine appropriate response methods and response to message requests, including secure networks regarding confidential information. The incumbent will operate the Virginia Crime Information Network (VCIN) teletype equipment to ensure that all messages and inquiries are addressed, assist walk-ins to the department, monitor safety devices, and provide administrative support to the department. This is a restricted position due to its funding sources from non-continuous and non-recurring funding sources.
