The Boston University Police Department is currently seeking candidates for position of Detective Lieutenant. The primary responsibility of the Detective Lieutenant is to ensure thorough and timely investigations of crimes committed within Boston University's jurisdiction, while providing extraordinary community service.
The successful candidate will be expected to act as a patrol Lieutenant and respond off hours when necessary. The Lieutenant Detective must collaborate and be able to work with multiple departments within the university, such as Title IX, Human Resources, Judicial Affairs, Equal Opportunity, Student Affairs, etc. They will also be expected to work professionally with federal, state, local and college/university law enforcement departments.
The Lieutenant Detective will perform and direct physical security assessments, threat assessments, background investigations, VIP Protection, court prosecutions, etc.
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Must be Municipally Academy trained and certified with a current License to carry a firearm. At least three (3) years of supervisory experience and at least three (3) years of investigative experience.
