Police Trainees will participate in a 6-month Police Academy Program that includes: •A lifetime fitness/physical training program which runs the length of the academy; •An emergency vehicle operations course and driving simulator; •Newly constructed handgun, shotgun, and rifle ranges, live fire house and simulator; •Modern classrooms and facility well suited for law enforcement basic training; •Dedicated full-time academy staff and experienced, professional instructors.Candidates for the position of Police Trainee and acceptance into the Police Academy must: •Be at least 21 years of age upon graduation; •Possess a valid California Driver License; •Have earned a valid high school diploma or the equivalent; •Be a US citizen or have applied for citizenship (and achieve citizenship within three years); •Take the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB), or have taken the test within one year of entry into the Academy; •Take the POST written exam and obtain a score of 45 or higher; or have taken the test within one year of entry into the Academy; •Pass the California POST Battery Physical test; •Have no felony convictions. The Selection Process: To verify eligibility, applicants may be required to complete a written exam, a physical agility test, a panel interview, a background investigation, medical and psychological exams, a pre-employment drug test, and other procedures as necessary. Applicants who have completed the POST written exam, and/or the POST physical agility test within the previous two years, should supply their T-score and/or physical agility verification, on their resume or attach their certificate to the application. |
