This police officer position is responsible for enhancing safety and security of the NVCC community through community outreach. The goals of this position are to enhance safety and security on campus, liaison with local law enforcement agencies, enhance the reputation of the NVCC Police Department and the NVCC brand. Additionally, augment crime prevention activities, patrol, traffic enforcement and criminal investigation activities on an as-needed basis.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
Specific outreach duties include the development and presentation of safety and security-related training at NVCC campuses and facilities, preparation and distribution of a monthly Public Safety Newsletter, distribution of safety and security information and resources, coordination with local law enforcement agencies, conduct security and crime prevention assessments, maintenance of the police website, and sponsoring outreach activities on campus. Responsible for department social media presence. Additionally, maintain ability and availability to support law enforcement functions on campus as needed.
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must hold current DCJS certification as a police officer
Previous or current experience as a police officer.
Successfully pass background investigation.
Licensed driver with demonstrated safe driving record.
Be a citizen of the United States.
College degree is desired.
Certifications as general instructor, child safety seat installer, gang specialist and crime prevention specialist.
