Additional Info: Operate the dispatch desk for the University Police/Public Safety Department. Coordinate the activities for the mobile and foot patrols, serve as the main point of contact for person on and off campus requesting information and services and maintain a variety of logs and records of law enforcement related activities. Control base, fixed or mobile communication; maintain status and control over all mobile radio Units in services; monitor all radio equipment in the dispatch area. Respond quickly to calling mobile operators furnishing them with efficient services. Think and act skillfully in emergencies, accurately analyzing each situation. Campus Safety Officers I am required to operate data terminals assigned to the communication area, Including and PC computer Systems. Understand the technical operation of the data terminal devices assigned to the communication area. Interpret computer data and provide information retrieved computer system to University Police Personnel. Responsible for operation (answering and transferring calls, relaying messages, relaying complaints to the appropriate University Police personnel) Telephone equipment. Make written records of complaints as required in the University Police blotter (Impact computer software). Operate other communication systems and support equipment. Operate magnetic tape logging devices used in making automatic records of radio/telephone transmission, changing tapes and storing tapes as required. Respond to calls for assistance. Patrol assigned area on foot to deter criminal activity and to detect and report any possible dangerous situations such as fires.
