The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety is responsible for emergency response on the University of Iowa campus. Our mission is to provide each member of the UI community with a sense of security throughout campus by creating a safe learning environment at all times and educating students, faculty and staff in matters of protection and personal responsibility.
*This is the entry level classification for becoming a fully certified police officer who can perform the full range of officer duties.*
Under general supervision, patrols the university campus and outlying property to protect life and property; responds to calls on foot, bicycle, or squad car to prevent and detect law violations and apprehend violators; provide safety services to University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students. Exercises judgment in interpreting laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures. Promotes and maintains favorable university-community relations.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Eligible to enroll in the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and complete the required field training program.
Valid Driver's license is required and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety driving Standards.
