The Carnegie Mellon University Police Department works together with the community to maintain a safe environment, and communication is a key component to that success. Our department is comprised of two divisions - the police services division consists of all police related operations and personnel and the special services division consists of security, communications, transportation, technology and support. Our services include police patrols and call response, criminal investigations, shuttle and escort services, fixed officer and foot officer patrols, event security, and crime prevention and education programming. The police department responds to approximately 12,000 calls for service annually. We maintain a very low crime rate and our staff is committed to keeping the Carnegie Mellon community safe.
The Carnegie Mellon University Police is in search of an Administrative Assistant to support the department. Your primary responsibilities will include providing administrative support and assistance to the chief of police, which will include:
- Managing the chief's calendar,
- Scheduling and coordinating events and meetings,
- Processing payroll in the university's WorkDay system,
- Purchasing office supplies,
- Processing expense reports and invoices
- Other duties as assigned
The person we select for this role will have a professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor, and a demonstrated ability to appreciate, recognize the need for, and maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive matters, incidents, and information.
- High school degree or equivalent required, Associate's degree or higher preferred
- Minimum 5-8 years of administrative support and/or office management experience
- Prior experience in a police and/or higher education environment preferred
