Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a law enforcement position at Appalachian State University, with full powers of arrest and enforcing the laws of the State and the United States Government. Work involves patrolling an assigned area for response to complaints, calls for service, and/or detection of violations in the enforcement of State laws and applicable regulations. Duties include apprehending observed violators committing offenses, investigating violations or complaints in order to assess and handle cases, collection and preservation of evidence and maintaining the chain of custody, testifying in court proceedings and performing related work. The Officer will also be expected to work special events and perform other duties as assigned.
- At least three years full-time experience as a sworn law enforcement officer.
- The accumulation of at least 15 training/education points toward an Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate or having earned the Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate.
Have a valid Driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age.
