Civilian dispatchers are responsible for providing the public with the quickest response to requests for police services by the most efficient and diligent manner in which dispatch messages are communicated to field units (police officers). The dispatcher has primary responsibility for the initial deployment of public safety personnel and equipment subject to the provisions of applicable written directives. Dispatchers shall maintain accurate and uniform documentation of police activity, assigns and manages alarm activations, and retrieves records, files and information for dissemination to the proper departmental personnel.

High school Diploma or equivalent required, B.A./B.S. preferred. Experience dealing with and speaking to the public is required. Ability to multitask using a variety of database systems in the Police Communications Center, excellent verbal and written communications skills, basic knowledge of Microsoft windows. Computer skills are essential.
