Department: Vice President for Administration
The Chief of Police reports to the Vice President for Administration. The Chief has the overall responsibility for evaluating, developing, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing all traffic, police, security, access control and Emergency Medical Service initiatives on behalf of the University. The Chief is the public face of the department with the overall responsibility for interacting with administrators and campus committees to ensure open lines of communication in developing the broad umbrella of police services. The Chief is responsible for working with other Federal, state and local police and community organizations, integrating campus police and campus initiatives with these organizations to improve the level of safety on campus and the community surrounding the campus.
Through specially designed programs and activities, the Chief provides and maintains a safe, stable environment for the University so the University can pursue its strategic plan, mission and goals.
The Chief will be responsible for ensuring a team approach and a customer focus in the delivery of services through a communication format that directly links strategic goals to job descriptions, performance reviews and employee compensation.
