The Folsom Police Department is a full-service organization serving a community of approximately 79,000 in eastern Sacramento County. The City and Police Department are undergoing another period of growth and expansion as 3,500 acres of annexed land south of Highway 50 has begun development. At buildout, the project will bring over 10,800 additional housing units to the City. Patrol officers work Monday-Thursday, 10 hour shifts or Friday-Sunday, 12.5 hour shifts. We provide excellent equipment and vehicles. Folsom officers have special assignment opportunities in investigations/narcotics, K9, School Resource, Community Crime Suppression Unit, Light Rail Enforcement, and Traffic/Motors. Ancillary special assignments include SWAT, FTO, CSI, Bicycle Patrol, Motors, Crisis Negotiations Team, Mounted Patrol, department trainer/instructor, Honor Guard, and CrossFit for Kids Instructor.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from the twelfth (12) grade. Experience: Possession of a valid State of California Basic POST Certificate or equivalent which has been accepted by the State of California, and at least one year of recent, full-time sworn law enforcement experience in a recognized law enforcement agency. Other Requirements: Must be 21 years of age or older by the filing deadline. Must be tobacco free and cannot use tobacco products on or off duty. Note: Current employees hired prior to September 30, 2009, shall be grandfathered for the duration of their continuous employment history with the City of Folsom. Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license or higher and have the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy. Must pass a physical agility test, background investigation, polygraph examination, criminal history review, psychological examination, medical examination and must not have any felony convictions.
Additional Salary Information: NOTE ON SALARY: Starting salary for lateral hires depends on qualifications. In addition, base salary can increase by 10% upon start with education incentive pay, as well as 6% holiday pay for shift assignments. The City also offers excellent benefits.
