Virginia State University is seeking a conscientious individual to serve as dispatcher in the Department of Police and Public Safety. This role monitors the communication system for the department. Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service and assistance by dispatching personnel via radio, telephone, and other methods of communication. Obtains information from callers to determine appropriate response methods and responds to message requests, including secure networks, regarding confidential information. Operates the Virginia Crime Information Network (VCIN) teletype equipment to ensure that all messages and inquiries are addressed. Assists walk-ins to the department. Monitors safety devises. Provides administrative support to the department.
