POLICE ACCREDITATION (CALEA)
SENIOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Department of Public Safety is currently recruiting for a Police Accreditation Senior Program Specialist to coordinate programs for Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation purposes. The selected candidate will coordinate the implementation of new and revised standards, assess the impact of changes on current policies and the need for creation of new policies, and complete all related work as required.
UMB's Police Force is comprised of sworn officers, security officers, police communications, and administrative staff. The mission of the force is to deliver quality crime control service that supports UMB's mission to improve the human condition and serve the public good of Maryland and society at-large through education, research, clinical care, and service.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Review, develop, and administer department policies and procedures for compliance with accreditation standards.
Collect proof of compliance and produce appropriate reports in accordance with accreditation standards. Maintain documentation files with proof of compliance.
Plan, coordinate, and implement on-site compliance assessments.
Conduct policy research and surveys of jurisdictions relating to accreditation.
Assist in writing directives to ensure accreditation requirements; updates accreditation plan as necessary.
Analyze and identify industry changes and trends as per CALEA and alert management to anticipated changes. Work with senior management in developing program goals and milestones.
Prepare reports on existing department operations, methods and procedures as they relate to accreditation standards.
Develop and maintain department manuals as necessary; maintain all records associated with accreditation.
Participate in special projects.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of administrative program coordination experience.
Preferred: Prior CALEA law enforcement or other accreditation experience is preferred.
Other: Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.
