St. Charles Community College is seeking a part-time Public Safety Officer/Police Dispatcher who will be responsible for answering the Department of Public Safety (DPS) dispatch phone and emergency phones and will dispatch DPS Officers on calls for service. This position will write incident reports, handle the text message notification, handle lost and found items, and will respond to emergency situations. The Public Safety Officer/Dispatcher will monitor buildings and parking, monitor fire and burglar alarms, and video equipment. The Public Safety Officer/Dispatcher locks and unlocks buildings, provides assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors as requested and during emergency situations, and maintains logs and information to prepare reports as required. The Public Safety Officer/Dispatcher assists in the adherence of College Safety and Emergency Preparedness Plans and assists in the training of employees regarding the Safety and Emergency Preparedness Plans.
Hours: Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On call weekdays as needed.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Knowledge of public safety techniques and a minimum of one year, relevant full-time experience as a security officer or security-related position. Experience with a college or multi-building site is preferred. Will make use of security related equipment such as walkie-talkie, flashlights, batons, and handcuffs. The incumbent will also become involved with fire and burglar alarms and other video, safety and protective equipment. St. Charles County security license, ASP Baton Training Certificate. Training Certificates for use of handcuffs, pepper spray, batons, AEDs, and First Responder. Certified police academy training preferred. Valid driver's license required.
