The off-duty Sheriff's Office Deputy provides patrol services to the Homewood Campus and off-campus facilities and activities. They shall act as first responders to mitigate any high risk incident or event that impacts the Homewood Campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Responsibilities include uniformed patrols and crime prevention services to protect life and property; offering proactive support of student and staff initiatives; development and maintenance of a positive rapport with students, faculty, staff, and members of the surrounding neighborhoods; reporting criminal offenses and disruptions; enforcing State laws and Baltimore City Ordinances.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Actively participate in crime prevention and community policing activities.
Respond to routine and emergency calls for various types of service and take action as appropriate to support the on-duty Patrol Shift as needed; maintain confidentiality.
Perform other security related services for the faculty, staff, students, and visitors of The Johns Hopkins University as may be necessary.
Provide law enforcement services as needed for the University's on-and off-campus property, facilities, activities and surrounding neighborhoods.
Act as the first responders to any incident or event that presents a high risk to the university community, and quickly act to mitigate such incidents.
High School graduate/equivalent required.
Completion of a Certified Police Academy required.
Two years' relevant work experience required. Additional education may substitute for required experienced to the extent permitted by JHU equivalency formula.
Valid Maryland driver's license required.
Currently employed by the Baltimore Sheriff's Office as a law enforcement officer in good standing.
Good oral and written communication skills including legible handwriting.
